Vesting
Vesting can be considered as an ownership right to benefits under the plan. The plan document will designate the vesting schedule used for each money type inside a plan. For example: Salary Deferral money is always considered to be 100% or fully vested. Employer Matching Contributions may be subject to a vesting schedule such as: 0 – 1 years of service 0% vested 2 years of service 20% vested 3 years of service 40% vested 4 years of service 60% vested 5 years of service 80% vested 6 years of service 100% vested AmeriBen/IEC Group will track years of service for vesting and provide the vesting per participant with the annual valuation for the plan.
